Wow, Tallulah looks so great! If she only liked cinema a lot more than the theater, she would have been among the ranks of a Stanwyck or even Norma Shearer

  2. seethevolcane says:

Actually, as we (later) learned, Tallu’s forte was comedy. In 30s, she turned down
    screwball play, “Twentieth Century.”

Wow a young Tallulah — haven’t seen her in much when she was younger – think she got funnier as she got older.
Is it me, or does her older and younger selves look like two completely different people?
    Anyways thanks for posting :)

@SASORI707 Tallulah was very good at dealing with pain.. the vast amounts of cocaine helped. lol

    It’s called adrenaline…

  8. SASORI707 says:

Being branded on the shoulder must be excrutiatingly painful, for hours afterward. Tallulah seems to recover in seconds–I wonder if the director didn’t want to show her suffering, or perhaps Tallulah herself hadn’t yet reached her pinnacle….

  9. mookindahouse says:

shame that Tallulah didn’t became as big as Bette, Joan, or Garbo.

Irving PIchel is great in this movie. Too bad he didn’t more acting in film. He was also a very good director, heck, he discovered Natalie Wood!

This film was first made as a silent version in 1915 with Sessue Hayakawa in the male lead and Fannie Ward in the female lead.
I saw the silent version and I enjoyed it a great deal and I hope to see the 1931 version whenever I can, because I’m intrested to see the similarities and diffrences.
